Tennessee Climbs to a Tie with Ohio State in Latest AP Poll

Following the Vols’ win over then-No. 19 Kentucky on Saturday night in Knoxville, Tennessee has risen one spot in the week 10 AP poll.

Tennessee climbs up to the No. 2 AP poll ranking, where the Vols are tied with No. 2 Ohio State. Yes, tied at No. 2. This is the highest AP poll ranking that Tennessee has had since week 15 of the 2001 season.

The AP Top 5 is as follows:

1. Georgia – 1,528 points – 30 first-place votes

2. (tie) Tennessee – 1,500 points – 18 first-place votes

2. (tie) Ohio State – 1,500 points – 15 first-place votes

4. Michigan – 1,378 points

5. Clemson – 1,312 points

All eyes will be on the SEC East next weekend as No. 1 Georgia hosts No. 2 Tennessee in the biggest game of the college football season.

Aside from Tennessee’s one-spot jump, the rest of the Top 8 in the AP poll remains the same with Alabama, TCU, and Oregon taking the spots after Clemson. USC rises one spot to No. 9 in the country while UCLA rounds out the Top 10.

Tennessee also knocked Kentucky out of the Top 25 with their 44-6 victory on Saturday night.

While Tennessee does rise to a tie in the AP rankings, the Vols hold firm at the No. 3 spot in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Vols will head south to Athens, Georgia next weekend for a monumental showdown with No. 1 Georgia. The winner will move on to the SEC Championship game representing the eastern division while the loser waits to see how the cards will fall.
